Club Leaders Forum (CLF) announced today a strategic partnership with Second Sun, a pioneer in microclimate intelligence for golf course management. This partnership is part of Club Leaders Forum’s commitment to support the Private Club Industry.

Through this partnership, Golf and Country Club superintendents will have the opportunity to make more precise, data-driven decisions across disease management, water management and shade mitigation.

The Second Sun platform supports three core areas without requiring new hardware or invasive installations:

  • Disease management: Hyperlocal disease prediction helps identify where risk is building before symptoms appear.

  • Water management: High-resolution evapotranspiration modeling supports more precise irrigation decisions and more consistent playing conditions.

  • Shade and sunlight management: Advanced sunlight analysis and tree-removal simulations help superintendents support long-term planning with objective data.

Second Sun also integrates with John Deere Operations Center, allowing disease pressure maps to be converted into targeted spray applications using GPS-enabled equipment. This capability is supported by Second Sun’s commercial partnerships with Stotz Equipment and Revels Turf and Tractor.

“Excellence in the Private Club Industry is increasingly defined by the ability to make informed, forward-looking decisions,” said Tom Stephens, Vice President, Club Leaders Forum. “Second Sun gives Platinum Clubs the scientific precision that translates directly into reduced operating costs and the exceptional playing experiences Members expect.”

Introducing the Inaugural Destination Spotlight

The Second Sun platform is developed in close collaboration with leading turfgrass researchers, including Professor Paul Koch at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Professor Chase Straw at Penn State University, Professor David McCall at Virginia Tech, and Professor Dominic Petrella at the University of Minnesota.
